Fall 2026 Technology Bulletin

Welcome to the Fall 2026 ETS Technology Bulletin, a roundup of timely updates, helpful reminders and resources for the Fulton Schools of Engineering community. As the new semester begins, take a few minutes to complete important technology tasks, review new requirements and explore the services and workshops available across FSE.

Claude Enterprise Now Available for ASU Work

ASU faculty and staff can now request Claude Enterprise, Anthropic's AI assistant for writing, coding, analysis and complex workflows. The ASU-provisioned workspace prevents university data from being used to train Anthropic's models and is approved for FERPA-governed information when ASU data-handling standards are followed. Standard and Premium subscriptions require departmental funding and manager approval. Explore Claude Enterprise at ASU.

Get Technology-Ready for the New Semester

Whether you are teaching in a new space or simply need a refresher, ETS can help you prepare. Book a personalized walkthrough of your assigned classroom or Apporto environment to review the available technology and ask questions. Sessions last about 30 minutes and should be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

Re-add Apporto Links to Your Canvas Courses

If you use Apporto (FSE Cloud Classroom), re-add the appropriate Apporto lab links to each Canvas course before classes begin. In your course navigation settings, move the designated lab links into the visible navigation, save your changes and click each link once to initialize it for students.

Use the FSE Cloud Classroom faculty setup guide to identify the correct lab and complete the setup. If the required lab is not available in your Canvas course, submit an FSE Cloud Classroom support request.

New Standards for AI Use and Equipment Travel

ASU regularly reviews its Information Security and Privacy Standards to keep them aligned with emerging technologies, evolving risks and changing work practices. The latest review introduced standards for using AI with university data and traveling with ASU-owned equipment. Familiarize yourself with both so you can recognize the requirements that apply to your work. On the standards page, select Artificial Intelligence Security and Privacy Standard and Traveling with ASU Equipment Standard.

GitHub for Academic Courses Is Now Available

Engineering instructors can now request GitHub for their courses. The service gives students a course-based environment where they can receive assignments, maintain their work in repositories and submit changes for faculty review, all while building experience with widely used development practices.

To get started, submit an ETS General Support request. Select ETS as the IT Support Group and enter GitHub for Academic Courses in the description. Include your course and section, the semester and a link to the Canvas course.

AI Workshops Build Practical Skills

Following several successful AI Explorer Workshops, ETS is expanding its practical AI training opportunities for engineering staff. Plans include bringing AI Explorer to the Polytechnic campus and developing new workshops on AI tools for everyday work and more advanced agentic workflows. Share your interests to receive early notice and help shape future offerings.
