The Barry M. Goldwater Center for Science and Engineering, located on the northwest corner of the intersection of Tyler and McAllister Malls, was built in 1992. The building is shared by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering.

The Goldwater Center contains faculty offices and classrooms, as well as research and instructional labs for bioengineering, chemical and materials engineering, chemistry, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, and physics.

The Goldwater Center is also home to several important research centers. It houses the Eyring Materials Center (EMC), facilities for ion beam analysis and Connection One, a National Science Foundation industry/university research cooperative in communication circuits and systems.
