Capital Management

Capital Asset Management

The Fulton Schools of Engineering (FSE) through Arizona State University has differing capital assets including but not limited to buildings, land, infrastructure, lab equipment, and library books for supporting the university’s research and academic goals. To make sure that all of ASU’s capital assets are tracked, safeguarded, and accounted for, the Capital Asset Management (CAM) team uses many different methods.

Some of the tasks that CAM does are:

  1. Coordinates tagging of all movable equipment valued at $5,000 or more
  2. Coordinates an inventory review biannually of all capital equipment
  3. Maintenance of capital asset database and tracking of capital assets from deployment to retirement
  4. Completion of annual and ad hoc reporting of assets
  5. Responding to requests from auditors and sponsors

For more information about Capital Asset Management (CAM), visit ASU’s CAM home page. For general questions and assistance, please email Property-Q@asu.edu.

Surplus Property

All ASU capital assets that have been retired and are no longer needed by the university beyond its useful lifespan are sold at monthly surplus property auctions.

Some of the assets include the following:

  • Computers (Windows, Mac OS (macOS), Unix (Linux, Ubuntu))
  • Computer peripherals (mice, moniors, keyboards)
  • Office furniture (chairs, tables, desks)

The surplus property is sold in person but allows for viewing both in person and online.
