Transition Alert: Workday is Replacing TAS and Other ASU Systems
Workday HCM is set to replace several ASU systems. Detailed information can be found at ASU Workday Information . As part of this transition, FSE’s time management system, TAS, will be phased out by the end of the year. All tasks currently managed by TAS will shift to Workday. Notifications will be displayed inside the TAS web app to keep all users informed. If you’d like to stay engaged and become part of the Workday community, email the HCM project team at [email protected] for more details.
Mobile ID for New Students, Faculty and Staff
In place of a physical Sun Card, new students, faculty and staff are receiving a Mobile ID. Accessible through the ASU Mobile App , the Mobile ID allows students to use their phones to access rooms via ISAAC badge readers. New students, faculty and staff without a compatible device will be issued a physical Sun Card. Current Sun Card holders will continue using their current ID. Later in the fall 2024 semester, existing cardholders will have the option to transition to Mobile ID. More details to come.
Advanced Email Lists for Seamless Communication
The Distribution Lists app is a web-based tool available for the Fulton Schools of Engineering, offering a dynamic approach to managing email lists. With the ability to create unlimited lists at no cost to FSE users, it’s a flexible solution for efficient outreach. To learn more and get started, visit ETS Distribution Lists.
Inside ETS’s Response to the Crowdstrike Incident
In July 2024, a flawed Crowdstrike update led to widespread system failures not just across ASU, but globally. ETS and IT teams across FSE and ASU worked through the night to contain the issue and restore critical systems, using innovative tools to minimize the impact. Key members of the team were recognized by ASU’s Chief Information Officer, though many others contributed significantly behind the scenes. Read the full story on how these efforts helped prevent a larger crisis: Crowdstrike Outage: How ETS Responded and Recovered.
FSE and WP Carey Collaborate on AI Challenge with Enterprise ChatGPT
Engineering Technical Services and the WP Carey School of Business IT teams have partnered in the AI Innovation Challenge program to explore how Enterprise ChatGPT can improve code documentation and standards. This collaboration is one of many ongoing AI initiatives currently underway across FSE and ASU. Through regular meetings and experiments, the teams are working together to integrate AI into their technical workflows. The next phase of the AI Innovation Challenge is now open for proposals, and those interested in participating are encouraged to apply. For more information, visit ai.asu.edu/AI-Innovation-Challenge.
